Abstract

1326192 Chairs PROFILE EXPANDED PLASTICS Ltd 23 Sept 1970 [24 June 1969] 31886/69 Heading A4H [ Also in Divisions B5 and B7 Foam thermoplastic articles are produced by placing heat-expandable beads in a mould in two or more layers and heating to fuse the beads together, at least some of the beads being preexpanded to reduce the density thereof, each layer being formed from beads of density intermediate that of adjacent layers, so that the part of the article consisting of the layer having the greatest density is substantially stronger than the rest. The beads may be polystyrene. The article produced may be a wing chair in which the denser layer forms the upper portions of the back and wings and the front portions of the seat and arms.
