Abstract

1324487 Brakes ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 29 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 60357/71 Heading F2F A coupling member 10 for use in the brakeline 5 of a vehicle semi-trailer braking system which has separate air and braking lines 5, 6, each with a connector 8, 9 and 7, 10, respectively, has a closure valve 16 which cuts off the air supply and vents the brake system to apply the automatic brake when the brake connector 7 is not in place. In this condition, the sleeve 14 is held down by spring-pressure so that spring- loaded valve 16 closes on seat 13 to cut off the air supply at 11, 12 from line 6, and to vent the trailer braking system of air via the space 17 and tube 14, and via tube 25, space 23, both through the unconnected opening 22. Insertion of coupling member 7 to connect the brake line 5, closes valve 14, 16 and opens 13, 16 to feed air over line 19 to regulator 20 and reservoir 21 in the normal way, brake control pressure also being applied at line 24, 25.
