Abstract

1323800 Light-screening compositions F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 8 July 1971 [10 July 1970] 32111/71 Heading. A5B A light-screening composition administered systemetically comprises canthaxanthin and a carrier other than water or a common organic solvent. The composition may also include another carotenoid, e.g. #-carotene, #-apo-8'- carotenal, #-apo-8'-carotenoic acid ethyl ester, citranaxcanthin, bixin, zeaxanthin, crocetin, echinenone, torularhodin aldehyde, apo-4'-#- carotenal, C 30 -dialdehyde, lycopene, capsanthin, rhodoxanthin or astaxanthin, or a stabilizer, e.g. a tocopherol, D L-α-tocopheryl ace tate, or ascorbic acid. The carrier may be mannitol or talc. The composition may be administered in capsules.
