Abstract
1323246 Propellant charge magazine for fastener driving tool OLIN CORP 30 Sept 1971 [2 Dec 1970] 45631/71 Heading B4C [Also in Division F3] A magazine 2, Fig. 1, for holding a number of disc-shaped propellant charges 10, Fig. 2, has a tubular body with a number of 'T'-shaped tracks 6 extending radially from a central bore 4 formed therein and passing through the entire length of the magazine. In an embodiment a power tool 14, Fig. 2, which fires fasteners into a work surface (not shown), has a barrel 16 and. a handle 18. The magazine 2 is supported in the tool by a tube 28, a member 20 and by a projection 40 of a bracket 34. The charges 10 are dispensed from the magazine by a spring- urged member 44, Figs. 2 and 4, which is slidable in each one of the tracks 6 in turn to feed individual charges 10 into a bore 74 of the handle 18. Each charge is transferred from the bore 74 by a plunger 72, which has a guiding rod 78 slidably mounted in a bore 80 in the handle 18 and urged by a spring 81, and by a lever 68, which is pivotally attached to the member 20 and is pivotally connected by a pin 70 to the plunger 72. In a modification the plunger 72/lever 68 assembly is replaced by a plunger 92, Fig. 5, having a charge-engaging disc 94 at one end and a hand-engaging disc 100 at the other end.
