Abstract

1322529 Cutting webs KALLE AG 22 Oct 1970 [10 Sept 1970] 50252/70 Heading B4B [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for cutting a web e.g. of copying material in a photocopying machine (not shown) comprises means 4 for supporting at least one roll 1, 2 of the web 5, 6, a cutting station 13, at least one device 9, 10 for feeding the web to the cutting station 13, transport means 16 for feeding the cut web into the photocopying machine synchronously with an original 19, and guide means 15 between the cutting station 13 and the transport means 16, movable so that the feeding device 9, 10 may be held stationary during cutting while the means 16 remains operative. Web is drawn from a chosen roll 1, 2 by draw-off rollers 8 or 9 and is fed around a respective roller 20 or 21 displaceable in guides 22, 23. The respective feeding device 9 or 10 feeds the web to the cutting station 13 between spring loaded guide plates 11 or 12 for retracting the leading edge of the web after cutting, rising of the roller 20 or 21 in its guides 22, 23 under limit switch control avoiding direct correlation between the feed and unrolling of the roll 1 or 2. Web passing through the cutting station 13 runs below a curved guide plate 34 of the guide means 15, the transport means 16 leading to inlet rollers 18 of the photocopying machine. On actuating the cutting station 13, e.g. by means of contact scanners 46 for sensing the rear end of the original 19, the feed rollers 9 or 10 are stopped, the plate 34 rising in guides 38, 39a, 39b as the web is tautened by the continuing action of the transport means 16, until a shear blade (29), Figs. 3-4 (not shown) is actuated by an eccentric shaft 32. The shear blade (29) may comprise two portions (29a), (29b) on a support bar 28, having oblique cutting edges defining a V-profiled composite edge for co-operation with a fixed lower blade 27.
