1322175 Ammonium hexachloro osmate INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd 26 Oct 1970 52553/69 Heading C1A [Also in Division C7] (NH 4 ) 2 OsCl 6 is prepared for an Os plating bath by heating Os in an air stream, collecting the OsO 4 formed in a HCl solution containing hydrazine HCl, and adding a saturated NH 4 Cl solution to the resulting deep-brown solution of Os(IV) chloride to give a red-brown (NH 4 ) 2 OsCl 6 precipitate which is washed with ice-cold water and methanol.
