Abstract

1321348 Roller conveyers KARL STUMPF KG 13 Dec 1971 [16 Aug 1971] 57883/71 Heading B8A A roller assembly for a roller conveyer comprises discs 7 supported on a tubular shaft 1, the discs having bearings 10 for rotatably supporting rollers 8. The spacing of the discs 7 is adjustable by a nut 4 to vary the friction between the ends of the rollers and flanges 11 of the bearings 10. The assembly is continuously driven. If an article being conveyed is temporarily stopped the rollers 8 are able to rotate about their own axes while the roller assembly continues to be rotated. Three such assemblies may be arranged end-to-end, Figs. 3, 9 (not shown). In a further construction, Fig. 4, rollers 8 are additionally supported on a sleeve 19 which is rotatable on a driven shaft 15. A further sleeve 17 surrounds the rollers 8 and, when the article and sleeve 17 are stopped, the rollers 8, together with the remainder of the assembly, revolve as before. When the conveyer has a curved track a taper sleeve 21 is used with the sleeve 17. The discs 7 and rollers 8 may be of plastics and the discs may have stub axles (23) on which the rollers rotate, Fig. 11 (not shown).
