Abstract

1321036 Change speed control ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG 7 April 1972 [10 April 1971] 16141/72 Heading F2D Shift-valves 20, 21, 22 are shifted left, to supply throttle-regulated main pressure 3, 8 to engage first, second and third ratio clutches 56, 66, 76, by fluid pressure supplied to their right ends by energizing solenoids 16, 17, 18 of respective relay valves 10, 11, 12, and the shift-valves 20, &c. remain in their operative position after de-energization of their corresponding relay valve 10, &c., by their own clutch-engaging pressure acting on a differential area 52 of their shift spools 42, until, during a shift, following energization of another relay valve 10, &c. and its shift valve 20 &c., pressure builds up in the newly selected clutch and acts through lines 68, 68A or 68B, on pistons 43, 44, &c., to shift back to the right the shift valve 20, &c. of the superseded clutch. This pressure reaches the faces of the pistons 43, 44, &c. through axial apertures in the pistons. Further pistons 45 act similarly when receiving neutralizing pressure supplied through a line 37 in the idle position of the relay valves 16, 18.
