Abstract
1321029 Capacitors PYE Ltd 31 May 1972 [23 Sept 1971] 44429/71 Heading H1M Closure member 3 for capacitor can 2 comprises a disc portion 4 having walled enclosures 6, 7 extending from its outer surface and accommodating terminals 8, 9, a walled passage 10 interconnecting enclosures 6, 7, a plate resister 11 being insertable in passage 10 and held by ribs 12 in electrical contact with projecting portions 13 of terminals 8, 9. A thickened part 15 of resilient arm 14 extending from the lower surface of disc 4 bears on insulating cap 16 to clamp capacitor roll 1 on the can. Projection 20 is to prevent intertwining of arms 14 when the closure members are contained in a feed hopper and portion 20a provides a stop limiting deflection of arm 14. Alternatively arm 14 and portion 20 may be integral. As shown in Fig. 3 terminal 8 comprises a strip of spring material, e.g. boryllium copper or phosphor bronze secured in the enclosure by being bent at 18 to an acute angle. External connection may be made by a wire gripped between end 19 and the enclosure wall, and projection 21 prevents excessive bending of the terminal. The closure member may be of moulded plastics, e.g. polyphenylene oxide and the can the same material or metal, e.g. aluminium.
