Abstract

1320978 Doffing and donning SANT' ANDREA OFFICINE MECCANICHE E FONDERIE SpA 30 July 1971 36008/71 Heading D1J When winding of yarn or sliver onto a bobbin 23 is complete, supporting arms 17 are pivoted by means of a toothed sector 26 and driven gear 29 to a position where they are spread apart by engagement of projections 20 (Fig. 3) on pivoted portions thereof with compression springs 21, releasing the package. Pivoted arms 41 carrying a new bobbin from a dispenser 48 are raised, and the arms 17 collect the bobbin as they are returned to the winding position, their spreading being maintained until they are aligned with the new bobbin by means of cam surfaces 43 on the arms 41. When the new bobbin is in the winding position, in which it is held by a spring 25, an arm 53 is pivoted to cut the sliver and press its end against the bobbin surface. Relative motion between the arms 17 and sector 26, to permit package growth, is limited by adjustable stops 33, 34.
