Abstract

1320606 Reciprocating conveyers COMBUSTION ENG Inc 27 July 1971 35139/71 Heading B8A [Also in Division B3] A conveyer for transporting moulds 11 from a " flaskless " foundry moulding machine comprises a fixed section 12 and a movable section 14 each having adjacent end portions which interfit, e.g. provided with interfitting rails 16 and means for moving the movable portion to shorten and lengthen the overall conveyer surface. A row of abutting moulds is formed in a moulding machine 36 (Fig. 3) and is advanced by a pusher 38 on to the fixed conveyer section 12 where metal is poured into them. As the moulds are advanced they reach the movable section which moves forward one mould length by piston and cylinder 34 on rollers 30 as it receives each mould and then retracts. This relieves the pusher 38 in the moulding machine 36 lowering the forces between the moulds. At the end of the conveyer line the moulds 11B fall into a shake-out grate 40. At the end of a casting run a fluid motor 42 may be operated to split the conveyer and the row of moulds. A push-off trolley 20 can remove the moulds on the part of the conveyer no longer in contact with the moulding machine 36. In Fig. 9 a further embodiment of the movable conveyer section 110 is shown fitted with clamps 132 which engage the mould sides.
