Abstract

1320365 Making high-alumina cement concrete particles LAFARGE ALUMINOUS CEMENT CO Ltd 6 Aug 1971 [7 Aug 1970] 38296/70 Heading B5A High-alumina cement concrete articles suitable for building are made by casting an aqueous high-alumina cement/aggregate mix at low water-cement ratio (below 0À50 water-cement ratio by weight) and curing at an elevated temperature (above ambient e.g. 27‹ C.). Curing temperature in the range 70-130‹ C., especially at 98-100‹ C., are desirable by means of hot water, superheated steam or electrically heated shutters. The aggregate comprises sand, shingle, firebrick, fused alumina, calcium aluminate, or mixtures thereof with differently-sized particles, and the articles may be reinforced. Two examples are described.
