Abstract

1320240 Cine projectors BAIA CORP 8 Dec 1970 58281/70 Headings G2A and G2E [Also in Division H2] A system for controlling the speed and direction of winding film between two reels 52, 56 in a projection viewer, comprises first and second reversible direct current motors 78, 146 driving reel spindles 66, 64 respectively through reduction gearing, the motors being connected in series to receive a series voltage from a power transistor 150 controlled by a small transistor 158 such that the motors are driven in the same direction at a speed which is independent of the load on the motors, a supplemental current being supplied to the winding motor to tension the film. The motors are controlled for speed and direction by a knob 104 which sets a potentiometer 124. Over-running of the supply reel is prevented by a friction drag spring on each spindle, or by a shunt resistor 168 which reduces the voltage applied to the unwinding motor. Spindle 66 is shiftable in slot 68 to accommodate reels or cassettes of various sizes mounted on top of the projector. An optical compensator is included in the optical system, and the projected images are through on to viewing screen 20.
