Abstract
1319805 Rockets MESSERSCHMITTBOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH 4 Sept 1970 [27 Sept 1969] 42517/70 Heading F3A A jet-propelled missile 1, Fig. 1, comprises a number of launching rockets 3 and 4 releasably secured thereto by the engagement of rocket claws 6 and 8 in missile guides 10 and 12, the claws being locked in the guides by claw pins 18 engaging in recesses 25 of a ring 22, which recesses are offset in relation to recesses 20 in a ring 21 so as to trap the pins. The ring 22 is secured against inadvertent rotation by a bolt 31 releasable pyrotechnically or by means of an explosive rivet. On igniting the launching rockets the bolt 31 is also released. The thrust from the rockets is transmitted to the missile via stops 16. When the launching rockets have burnt out they are moved rearwardly by the aerodynamic force acting on them, with consequential rotation of the ring 22 by the action of the pins 18. Once the ends of the recesses 25 are brought into alignment with the recesses 20, the rockets are released from the missile by the continuing aerodynamic force.
