Abstract
1319650 Chloroacetoacetamides SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 6 Oct 1970 [8 Oct 1969] 47471/70 Heading C2C Compounds of formula CH 3 COCHClCONRR<SP>1</SP>, in which R is C 1-6 alkyl and R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl, are prepared by chlorination of a compound CH 3 COCH 2 CONRR<SP>1</SP> at 0 to -35‹ C. in the presence of a C 1-6 alkanol containing 5 to 40% wt. of water. Comparative examples disclose the operation of the process at higher temperatures and in the absence of water.
