Abstract
1319445 Spring upholstery SLUMBERLAND GROUP Ltd 2 July 1970 [3 July 1969] 33519/69 Heading A4M A spring core for mattresses or the like comprises rows of coil springs 1, 2 defining upper and lower main faces, the springs being interconnected by helical wires 6, and includes in at least one main face 10 or an extension thereof a plurality of stiff but resilient wire formers 7-9 of generally U-shape, the limbs 8 of the former being inserted lengthwise into the helical wires 6 and being shaped to define a contour which does not lie in the plane of the main face. As shown, Figs.4 and 6, the limbs 8 are crimped and an arcuate portion 9 defines a raised edge. Alternatively, Fig.8, the former includes an arcuate portion 12 which curves downwardly from the limbs 8. In a further embodiment, Fig.11, the former includes an upwardly inclined portion extending from its limbs 8. The latter type of former may be fitted into two opposite sides of a divan base Fig. 13 (not shown).
