1319315 Calendar timepieces CITIZEN WATCH CO Ltd 19 June 1970 [19 June 1969(2)] 29999/70 Heading G3T In a calendar timepiece having independently settable day and date indicators, rotation of a setting stem in one direction causes both indicators to be advanced together while rotation in the reverse direction sets one indicator only. Figs. 1, 2 show a winding/setting stem 11 in an intermediate axial position in which teeth 14a of an axially movable clutch wheel 14 are engaged with a gear 18a which drives, through a shaft 19, a gear 18 and hence further gears 28 and 29. If the stem 11 is rotated to turn the gear 29 in a clockwise direction, a gear 34 is similarly rotated through an idler 32 which is carried by a pivoted arm 30. The gear 34 is connected via a Breguet clutch (34a, 35a) Fig.3 (not shown) to a driver 35 which meshes with a day star wheel 36. The gear 34 also meshes with a gear 38 which is connected via a further Breguet clutch (38a, 39a) with a driver 39 for a date ring 40. If the gear 29 is caused to rotate in an anti-clockwise direction, the idler 32 moves into position 32a where it is clear of the gear 34 but drives a gear 42 and hence a driver 43 and the date ring 40. The stem 11 may also occupy an axially inner position for winding and an outer position for time setting Other embodiments having a similar setting action are described, Figs. 4-6 (not shown) as well as embodiments in which reverse rotation of the stem leaves the date ring unaffected but causes reverse rotation of a day ring or star wheel.
