Abstract

131,884. Deschamps, L. Aug. 26, 1918, [Convention date]. Valves.-In a two-stroke-cycle engine, a pair of terminal ports g, together extending around the periphery of the cylinder, are controlled by rotary cylindrical valves j, each of which connects a port g with the exhaust and inlet passages h, i, in turn. The valves may be water-cooled, and they are slit at p so as to press tightly against their casings. The slit may form a wedge-shaped slot with the wider end towards the port g, so that the pressure of the exhaust gases tends to open the slit and press the valve against its casing.
