Abstract
1318525 Hydrogen peroxide BURMAH OIL TRADING Ltd 22 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 1969 22 Dec 1969] 51829/69 and 62358/69 Heading C1A [Also in Division C2] Hydrogen peroxide, in a concentration not exceeding 4% w/w. is produced by oxidizing, e.g. with air a secondary alcohol, preferably iso-propyl alcohol, dissolved in an inert ester solvent at a temperature of at least 165‹ C. and at a pressure of from 50 to 2000 p.s.i.g.; the process being carried out in the essential absence of heavy metal ions and under conditions minimizing decomposition. The process is preferably carried out in the liquid phase at a temperature from 170-220‹ C. and at a pressure from 100-600 p.s.i.g. The inert solvent is preferably n-propyl acetate or another such acetate ester.
