Abstract

1318290 Ceramics E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 14 Aug 1970 [15 Aug 1969] 39389/70 Heading C1J A slip comprises a particulate ceramic blended with an aqueous dispersion of an internally plasticized thermosetting film forming resin. It can be made into a flexible tape which can be fixed to a rigid ceramic article. Specified ceramics are Al 2 O 3 , steatite, zircon, ZrO 2 , Al silicate, Mg silicate, TiO 2 , BeO, BaTiO 3 and their combinations; whilst resins are vinyl acetate-ethylene-N-methylol acrylamide terpolymer and acrylic ester copolymers crosslinkable on heating. Optionals for the slip are surfactants, anti-foamants, stabilizers and coalescers, examples being given.
