Abstract
1318102 Ion exchange PERMUTIT CO Ltd 23 Nov 1970 [11 March 1970] 11694/70 Heading B1J Ion exchange resin which is used to treat liquids containing suspended particles on an absorber is separated from the latter by being removed from the absorber and passed as a slurry with liquid through a straining device which has apertures which can pass liquid and the suspended particles but not the resin particles which are subsequently returned to the absorber. The resin may be an anion or cation exchange resin which is regenerated before return to the absorber. The treatment may be applied to an ion exchange process in which liquid is passed downwardly through a cation exchange resin which is supported on a mixed bed.
