Abstract

1318151 Textile treatment BRUCKNERAPPARATEBAU MICHELSTADT GmbH 19 April 1971 [2 April 1970] 26197/71 Heading D1L Apparatus for washing and drying a textile web 6 comprises an endless mesh belt 7 and tenter chains 17 for carrying the web through at least one washing zone 12 and a hot air drying zone, the washing zone containing at least one washing unit in which at least one spray device (e.g. 18) sprays liquid onto the web 6, there being a liquid removal device (18) which establishes a downward air stream through the web after it has been sprayed with washing liquid. As shown spray devices 18, 18a and 18b spray washing liquid and air stream liquid removal devices 19, 19a and 19b remove at least part of this liquid. Containers 20, 20a and 20b collect this removed liquid, liquid from containers 20a and 20b being fed to the preceding spray device 18, 18a respectively. The liquid from container 20 is purified by apparatus 24 and passed to container 20b. The atmosphere of the washing zone is likewise pumped (pump 26) to the apparatus 24, the washing liquid being organic solvent. Purified air is passed to the air stream devices 19 to 19b. Suction air nozzles under the web may be provided in place of the nozzles 19 to 19b shown, and the width over which the spray devices and air nozzles operate may be variable. The walls of chamber 12 may be cooled to condense solvent thereon, if it is cold solvent, or may be heated in the case of hot solvent to prevent such condensation which would drip onto the web 6. To aid the removal of solvent from the web, the web 6 can be vibrated. In the drying zone (Fig. 1, not shown) the web is dried by circulating hot air (which may be passed to apparatus 24 to reclaim the solvent) after which zone the web may be passed through an airing zone in which it is subject to a clean air stream, through a fixing zone in which it is subject to high temperature (180-200‹C) and through a cooling zone.
