Abstract
1318056 Electro-coating with resin VIANOVA KUNSTHARZ A G 5 Aug 1970 [5 Aug 19691 37841/70 Addition to 1206706 Heading C7B [Also in Division C3] In a modification of the Specification 1206706 the resin coating composition for electrodeposition contains (a) water, (b) a water-tolerant solvent and (c) an adduct obtained by reacting (i) a dienophilic compound (ii) a hydroxy-free drying and/or semi-drying fatty acid ester or mixed ester of such fatty acids and a rosin acid and (iii) the product obtained by reacting a phenol resole with an unsaturated fatty acid or a rosin acid with a mono- or polyhydric alcohol, the viscosity of said ester (ii) prior to the adduct forming reaction having been raised by polymerization to 3-30 times its initial value, and neutralizing the product obtained with a nitrogen base. Examples of (b), (c(i)) and (c(ii)) are identical to those disclosed in the Specification 1206706. A method of coating a steel strip with the paint composition by electro-deposition is disclosed and is similar to that described in the Specification 1206706.
