Abstract
1318049 Wave-guides RANK ORGANISATION Ltd 7 July 1971 [8 July 1970] 33115/70 Heading H1W [Also in Division G1] A waveguide, e.g. for use in measuring the moisture content in sheet materials including two plates, e.g. 10, positioned face to face to define a propagation channel 12 partly formed in each plate has a series of spaced slots or grooves 5 at the side of the propagation channel 12 and transverse thereto to eliminate or reduce longitudinal excitation of electromagnetic waves outside the channel. The channel portions 12 are joined at their ends to form a continuous channel and the material to be tested is positioned between the plates, Fig. 2 (not shown). Dielectric 4 containing channels 14 and choke channels 3 may be provided in each or both plates interspaced with and extending parallel to the propagation channels 12. A thermistor may be connected into the system for temperature compensation.
