Abstract

1317310 Radio navigation STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 23 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 61595/70 Heading H4D In a Doppler-effect beacon equally-spaced aerials of a first rectilinear array have energy at a first radio frequency commutated to them and a second rectilinear array of equally-spaced aerials is provided substantially in alignment with the first array, the length between the end aerials of the second array is equal to the spacing between adjacent elements of the first array, energy at a second radio frequency is commutated to each of the second array aerials in succession during energization at each of the first array aerials, and the commutation of the two arrays is in opposite directions. The total number of aerials is thereby reduced as compared with a conventional beacon (e.g. 42 as against 361).
