Abstract

1317067 Electricity-meter bearing JAIPUR METALS & ELECTRICALS Ltd 17 Aug 1971 38550/71 Heading F2A A bearing for a vertical shaft, e.g. of an electricity meter, comprises a support member 2 in which the shaft is located, and a bearing plate 6 having a surface of P.T.F.E. with which the support member engages, the support member and bearing plate being located in a housing 8 having an opening at its upper end through which the shaft passes. The P.T.F.E. surface may be reinforced with glass, graphite or copper powder. The bearing plate 6 is supported in a member 12 and an annular sheath 14, and spring loaded with respect to the housing by a spring 16. The loading in the spring may be varied by a nut 18. The lower end 4 of the support member 2 may be ball shaped and the surface of the bearing plate 6 may be concave.
