Abstract

1316393 Spraying nozzles P G VICARD 2 Aug 1971 [16 Sept 970 17 May 1971] 36205/71 Heading B2F A spraying nozzle for producing a conical discharge comprises a body 2 with coaxial orifices 2c, 2e, Fig. 1, joined by a curved wall 2d, the angle α between the tangents at orifice 2c being greater than the angle # between the tangents at orifice 2e. As shown, spray material e.g. a liquid, enters a bore 2a, passes through an aperture 3e in a member 3 and is guided in a spiral path by a wall 3c, Fig. 2, to a chamber 26 and then passes through the orifices 2c, 2e. The member 3 may have a shoulder 3f to prevent foreign bodies falling into the orifice 2c. When the nozzle is used to spray solid particles in a liquid or gas, there may be provided a tangential inlet (2f), Fig. 4 (not shown), to the chamber 26. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5, 6 (not shown), the body 2 is in two parts screwed together and the spiral wall 3c is replaced by a helical rib (4e) on a hub (4) through which passes a tail (3g) of the element 3, which tail threadably engages a core (2g) spaced from an upper enlarged diameter portion of the bore 2a by radial arms (2h). In a third embodiment, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown), the body 2 is closed at its bottom by a circular plate (5) and liquid enters the chamber (2b) through a tangential inlet (2i). In a final embodiment, Fig. 9 (not shown), a double nozzle is formed by two nozzles each similar to that of Figs. 5, 6, the element 3 of one nozzle being widened at its top and threadably receives the body of the second nozzle. Any one of the nozzles may be disposed in a conduit to produce mixing with a fluid which flows through the conduit in a direction opposite to that of the nozzle discharge, Figs. 10, 11 (not shown).
