Abstract

1316268 Bolt mechanisms PERKINS & POWELL Ltd 10 June 1970 [19 July 1969] 36433/69 Heading E2A A bolt mechanism for a door, comprises a bolt 17 slidable in a guide member 19 adapted to be fitted at an edge face of a door, a lever 12 pivotally mounted on a mounting member 10 adapted to be fitted at a face of the door which is adjacent to, and at right angles to, the first-mentioned face, and an elongated movement-transmitting member 15 coupling the lever and the bolt whereby the lever is operable to move the bolt between a shot position and a retracted position thereof, the guide member being structurally separate from, and unconnected with, the mounting member and the latter having a length substantially less than that of the elongated member. In the construction shown the member 15 is made from a rod tube or strip of spring steel and it is so constructed that when the lever is moved to withdraw or shoot the bolt it is laterally displaced resiliently to serve as a spring biassing means to bias the bolt into both the shot position and the retracted position alternately by bearing against a strip 22 secured in the recess in which the member 15 is disposed. The bolt is connected to the linkage means either by screw thread or by adhesive.
