Abstract

1316068 Stringed musical instruments E F POWICK 7 March 1972 10646/72 Heading G5J A keyboard for a fretted stringed musical instrument such as a guitar comprises a board 1 stood off from the neck 10 of the instrument by screws 8 and nuts 9, the board carrying a plurality of plastics keys 2, 3, one for each segment of a string between frets 13 (or nut 12). Each key is fixed by a rod 4 to a circular non- ferrous metal or plastics lozenge 6 faced with leather 7 which, when the key is depressed against the spring 5, stops the corresponding string segment. The keys at each fret are in staggered rows to give more finger space. Keys for natural notes are white; for sharps and flats, black.
