Abstract
1315921 Flame drills FRANCE ARMED FORCES, MINISTER OF 4 Jan 1972 [7 Jan 1971] 325/72 Heading E1F A hole is formed in ice by means of a device comprising a ram D, a hot gas generator B, and nozzles C for directing the hot gas around the ram D. The gas generator may contain solid, liquid, or gaseous fuel. A float chamber E may carry a payload G, e.g. a transmitter or submarine detection buoy. In use, one end of a coiled line or cable F is fixed to the upper surface of the ice.
