Abstract

1315891 Carrier bags BRITISH VISQUEEN Ltd 18 April 1972 [30 April 1971] 12341/71 Heading A4G [Also in Division B8] A plastics film bag comprises a front panel 1, a back panel 2, a bottom gusset panel 3, and strips 6 joined to the bag along the lines where the gusset panel 3 joins the front and back panels, the gusset panel 3 and strips 6 being joined to the lower portions of the front and back panels by seams 4 and the remainder of the side edges of the front and back panels being joined by seams 5. The strips 6 may be positioned internally or externally of the bag and may lie against the front and back panels or against the gusset panels. The bag may be made from a folded flat web, a longitudinally slit gussetted web, or separate webs forming the front, back and gusset panels. The strips 6 may be separate strips or may be formed as a double layered folded-over extension of the gusset and front and back panels. The bottom seams 4 are mitred. A handle or handle hole 8 may be provided. The bag may be of high density polyethylene, polypropylene, copolymers of ethylene and propylene, or copolymers of ethylene or propylene with other olefines.
