Abstract

1315519 Spiral traction apparatus E W TAYLOR 7 Oct 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 60759/70 Headings A5R and A6M A spinal or cervical traction device comprises a harness or sling for fitting around the body or to the head and a hand operable winch 15 associated with said harness said winch comprising a worm driven by a handle 20, the worm being in mesh with a worm-wheel keyed to a drum, to which is attached and on which may be wound a flexible connector 16, the free end of which carries a link for engagement with a suitable fitting secured in a elevated position. A harness for attachment to the head to produce cervical traction comprises two flexible members 10' attached to the winch 15 by buckles 12, the flexible members having at their lower end buckles 30, which are attached to a bar 31, and carry on hooks 32 a pair of head engaging slings 33, 34. For spinal traction a simple padded sling (A) Fig. 1 (not shown) may be passed under the arms.
