Abstract
1315554 Reciprocating pumps CONSTANTIN RAUCH 29 July 1970 [31 July 1969] 36712/70 Heading F1A In a hydraulic axial piston pump, the piston reaction torque acting about an axis perpendicular to the rotation axis is counterbalanced by one or more pistons 29, 43 in cylinders 28, 42 connected to the high pressure side of the pump, to relieve the load on bearings 6 and 2. In the reversible pump shown, only one piston 29 or 43 is effective in each direction of flow. The or each piston is tiltably mounted in its cylinder, and slidably engages a plate 33 rotating with shaft 7. Hydrostatic bearing recesses 32 in the piston bearing faces are supplied with pressure liquid through throttling passages 31. The arrangement is such that the resultant of the remaining axial forces and radial forces loads bearing 6 at an angle approximately equal to or slightly less than, the pressure cone angle 5 of the bearing.
