Abstract

1313515 Manhole covers BRICKHOUSE DUDLEY Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 March 1970] 11287/70 Heading E1G In a manhole cover comprising a rectangular or other frame 10 and one or more triangular lids 18, each lid 18 has three-point support provided by three depending lid portions bearing on corner or other frame seats 15, the interengaging bearing surfaces of the frame and lid being sloped, Figs. 2-4 (not shown) to resist movement of the lid in its own plane. As shown each seat 15 has two oppositelysloped bearing surfaces (17) meeting in a ridge directed towards the frame centre, i.e. the seat is of inverted V cross-section, while each of the pair of lids 18 has at its right angled vertex 20 a double-sloped depending portion fitting over the seat 15 and at its other vertices 25 a single-sloped depending portion engaging one half of the seat 15.
