Abstract
1313129 Porcelain enamel FERRO CORP 19 April 1971 [5 June 1970] 25740/71 Heading C1M [Also in Division F4] A porcelain enamel frit which may be fired on to a metal substrate to produce a matte or semi-matte coating, for instance for use in selfcleaning gas ovens, comprises 15 to 70 weight per cent of ferric oxide and may include at least five of the following oxides in an amount falling within the indicated weight per cent range: Al 2 O 3 0 to 20; B 2 O 3 1 to 10; CaO 0 to 1; Co 2 O 3 0 to 5; CuO 0 to 4; K 2 O 0 to 10; Li 2 O 0 to 5; Na 2 O 0 to 10; P 2 O 5 0 to 2; SiO 2 15 to 20; TiO 2 10 to 30; ZnO 0 to 4; ZrO 2 0 to 10. In three examples, the frit, mixed with polytran (a bio-polymer containing a polysaccharide) NaNO 2 and water, is sprayed on to the surface and fired, e.g. at temperatures below 1600‹ F., or other mill additions, used in two other examples, are boric acid, bentonite, gum tragacanth, powdered aluminium and water.
