Abstract

1313192 Rail vehicle undercarriages HONEYWELL GmbH 9 Dec 1970 [9 Dec 1969] 58348/70 Heading B7L [Also in Division G3] In a vehicle having a body 1 which may be tilted by means of jacks 3, an acceleration sensor 7 carried by the body 1 provides a signal indicative of transverse force on the body, the signal being taken via a low-pass filter 8 to a control device 9 and used to actuate the jacks so as to tilt the body in such a direction that the gravitational force opposes the transverse accelerational force. The cut-off frequency of the filter 8 is preferably 2 c/s. to avoid operation on transient forces. Logic and differentiating circuits 10, 11 provide a rapid reduction in the angle of tilt in response to a corresponding sensor signal. The control action may be further modified by the use of a rate-of-turn gyro 12 which senses the body's angular velocity.
