Abstract

1312118 Spray coating RANSBURG CORP 9 April 1970 [9 April 1969] 16953/70 Heading B2L [Also in Divisions F2 and G3] Electrostatic coating apparatus 30, comprises a coating chamber 33 which is terminated at one end by a filter 37, and an exhaust passage 36 which incorporates a fluidic device 10 operative to initiate or terminate the coating process in dependance upon the rate or condition of the air flow through the channel and its filter. The exhaust passage 36 includes a duct portion 12 within which there is disposed a flap 13, flow through the portion 12 tending to rotate the flap in opposition to a spring 15. Such rotation of the flap turns a spindle 14 secured thereto and thereby moves a disc 17 having formed therein an arcuate aperture 18, the disc at all times having a portion thereof disposed between a pressurised emitter jet 21 and a receiver nozzle 26, and the nozzle communicating, via passageway 51, with an output connection 20' associated with the coating means. In the event of the flow within chamber 33 being below a predetermined required value or above a different predetermined value such as due to filter failure, the disc 17 will be so disposed that communication between jet 21 and receiver 26 will be interrupted and hence the coating means will be de-activated due to the absence of pressure in connection 20'. In between the two predetermined values, the disc is so positioned by the flap 13 that the disc aperture 18 permits communication between the jet and receiver in consequence of which the coating means is activated.
