Abstract

1311553 Diepoxide-polyester adducts CIBAGEIGY AG 7 July 1970 [7 July 1969] 33015/70 Heading C3B Adducts containing epoxy groups are prepared by reaction, with warming, of (I) linear polyesters (z # 6) and (II) diepoxides. From 0À1-0À65 carboxyl equivalents of I are used per epoxide equivalent of I. I are prepared by reaction of succinic acid and butane-1,4-diol. Examples of II are glycidyl esters of tetra- or hexa-hydrophthalic acids, 3,4 - epoxy - cyclohexylmethyl- 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP> - epoxycyclohexane carboxylate, 3,4- epoxyhexahydrobenzal - 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1 </SP>- epoxycyclohexane - 1<SP>1</SP>,1<SP>1</SP> - dimethanol, 1,1<SP>1</SP> - methylenebis - (3 - glycidyl - 5,5 - dimethylhydantoin), N(1),N(3) - diglycidyl - 5,5 - dimethylhydantoin, and the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. The adducts may be cured by conventional epoxy resin curing agents, Uses.-High tensile strength mouldings, powder coatings, laminates.
