Abstract

1311409 Lamps GTE SYLVANIA Inc 15 Sept 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 43084/71 Heading F4R [Also in Division H1] An electric lamp, in particular a fluorescent tube, is at least partially encased in a body of cellular or "foam" material which is in contact with the major portion of the outer surface of the lamp envelope. The body may contain a plurality of lamps and also the appropriate control gear, an electrical connector being provided on the outside of the body. The foam may be made from plastics such as polyurethane, P.V.C., acrylic resin or phenolic resin, and may have opaque regions composed of aluminium foam or asphalt foam. A reflective aluminium coating may be deposited on the outer surface of the body, and the body itself may be coloured.
