Abstract
1310519 Ignition distributers JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 31 July 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 40187/69 Heading H1N An ignition distributer comprises an annular base-plate 11 and an annular timing plate 16 spaced for angular movement on the base-plate and secured with a predetermined clearance between the two plates by three angularly spaced ears 15. In Figs. 3, 4 the timing plate has three projections 18, formed by a half shearing operation, which are located after assembly within slots 19 in the base-plate, thus providing limits for the angular rotation of the timing plate. The relative axial movement of the plates is chosen to be equal to the height of the projection 18. In Fig. 6 (not shown) the projections 18 are on the upper surface of the timing plate and are initially engaged by the bent-over ears, thus setting a predetermined value to the extent of axial movement. The plate assembly is secured in the distributer casing with the contact assembly on timing plate 16 and the cam-shaft passing through spigot 21. Nylon bearing pads reduce the friction between the plates, when the vacuum mechanism causes their relative movement.
