Abstract

1310312 Continuous casting GENERAL MOTORS CORP 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970] 21039/71 Addition to 1307424 Heading BF3 In apparatus as described and claimed in Specification 1,307,424, zone 3 of the mould has longitudinal grooves 28, preferably equallyspaced, extending the length of the third mould portion 24 for the venting of gases downstream. The grooves 28 are 0À030 inch wide and 0À015 inch deep. At the inlet end of the mould portion 24, a length of the grooved graphite liner 26 may be replaced by a grooved sleeve of Mo or a Mobased alloy, e.g. containing 5% Ti and 0À08% Zr.
