Abstract
1309955 Styrene copolymers GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 10 Aug 1970 [5 Sept 1969] 38475/70 Heading C3P A copolymer of 10-50% styrene, 10-80% α-methyl styrene and 10-80% vinyl toluene and a vinyl toluene/styrene mol. ratio of 3 : 1 to 1 : 1 has a softening point of 70-130‹ C. and is produced by copolymerization, preferably in an inert diluent, in the presence of boron trifluoride, or an etherate thereof, aluminium chloride, ethyl aluminium dichloride or stannic chloride. The product is used as an additive for hot melt adhesives.
