Abstract
1309065 Polyester filaments INVENTA AG FUR FORSCHUNG UND PATENTVERWERTUNG 28 April 1971 [29 April 1970] 11951/71 Heading B5B [Also in Division D1] Polyester fibres are treated with a composition comprising a non-polymeric N-(2-hydroxy-3- halopropyl) substituted nitrogen compound. The compound may be derived from primary and secondary aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic mono- and polyamines, from amides (both carbo- and sulphamides), lactams, imides (including guanidine), urea, thiourea, biuret, melamine and urethanes. Many such compounds are listed. The compound may be applied to the melt spun filaments as a solution or emulsion in water and/ or ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, by means of a spinning treatment roll. An antistatic spinning treatment fluid comprising paraffin fats or oils and emulsifiers may be incorporated in the composition comprising the N-substituted compound, and may also be applied to the fibres as an after-treatment using a further spinning treatment roll. The fibres may be polyethylene terephthalate. Treatment enhances the adhesion of the fibres to rubber (see Division D1).
