Abstract

1308782 Coin-freed cooked-food dispenser VENDING CENTRE (HOLDINGS) Ltd 17 Sept 1971 [19 Sept 1970] 44728/70 Heading G4V A coin-freed cooked-food dispenser, particularly for chipped potatoes, comprises a food store 10, a varied wheel 12 for releasing food from the store on receipt of a signal from a coin-freed mechanism, weighing means 20 arranged to receive the food and discharge a weighed quantity thereof to cooking means 30, 31 which are arranged to dispense the cooked food at the end of a preset cooking period. In the embodiment described chips are released from the hopper 10 by rotation of the vaned wheel 12, one of the hopper walls 17 carrying a flexible flap 18 and the hopper including an agitator 19 to minimize jamming of the chips. The chips are delivered to a pivoted tray 20 which is provided with a counterweight 24 freely slidable on an arm 23. When the required weight of chips has been received the tray tilts (Fig. 2, not shown) and the counterweight 21 slides along the arm to strike fixed stop 26 and ensure that all the chips leave the tray and pass to a frying basket 30 immersed in an oil bath 31 heated by elements 35. After a preset cooking period the basket is pivoted about pivot 33 and the chips are dispensed via channel 32 to a platics plate for delivery to the customer. The weighing tray may be replaced by a spring-operated weigher.
