Abstract
1307989 Self-cleaning ovens CREDA ELECTRIC Ltd 14 April 1970 [1 May 1969] 22213/69 Heading F4W [Also in Division C1] A self-cleaning oven arranged to be raised to a temperature above the normal heating range but below the normal heat-cleaning range (i.e. to a temperature of 550-750‹ F.) for cleaning has an inner surface coating of vitreous enamel containing a catalyst and having a finish providing an extended surface area over which the catalyst is effective. The catalyst is the oxide of a non-toxic transition element such as TiO 2 or MnO 2 , and the enamel slip contains heatresistant cement, calcined alumina or calcium aluminate which coagulates at the firing temperature to give the uneven finish. The oven may be an electrically heated oven of the kind described in Specification 1,241,556 or of the kind described in Specification 1,282,099.
