Abstract
1307490 Dynamo-electric machines WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 19 Feb 1970 [19 Feb 1969] 48687/72 Divided out of 1306711 Heading H2A In a dynamo-electric machine, e.g. a vertically mounted waterwheel generate 10, having an air gap 15 between a stap 12 having directly cooled windings and a rotor 14 having salient pole members 27, 28, and a blower 35 to cause a flow of coolant gas axially through the machine from one end to the other, the pole members support a circumferential band 44 which separates the air gap from the interpolar spaces 29. This is to reduce windage losses due to air vortices between the pole members, in a machine which otherwise is similar to that disclosed in the parent Specification 1,306,711.
