Abstract
1306587 Printing process W R GRACE & CO 3 Dec 1970 [4 Dec 1969] 57558/70 Heading B6C [Also in Division C3] A photocurable printing ink is printed on to a substrate, then cured by exposure to ultra-violet light. The essential components of the ink are (a) a pigment, (b) a polyene containing at least 2 reactive unsaturated carbon to carbon bonds per molecule, (c) a polythiol containing 2 or more thiol groups per molecule and (d) a photosensitizer, and the ink may also include water, a stabilizing agent and an emulsifier. Pigments, photosensitizers, stabilizing agents and emulsifiers which may be used are listed, and it is stated that in preferred cases the sum of the number of -ene or -yne functions in the polyene and the number of thiol groups in the polythiol exceeds 4.
