Abstract

1306342 Rail vehicles FRIED KRUPP GmbH 8 Jan 1971 [9 Jan 1970] 1069/71 Heading B7L A rail vehicle bogie 11 is connected to each side of the vehicle body 12, for transmission of traction and braking forces, by a rod 18 universally connected to the bogie frame at one end and at its other end to the piston rod 14 of a double acting hydraulic cylinder 13 which is connected with the body, the working chambers 16, 17 of one cylinder being connected with the working chambers 16<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP> of the other cylinder such that the bogie is able to pivot about a vertical axis. The fluid within the cylinders is pressurized from reservoirs 28. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the cylinders are located centrally of the bogie and the ends of the piston rods are provided with rollers 24 which, according to the direction of drive or braking, contact one or other of associated levers 23 pivoted to the vehicle body. In a static state a distance "S" is provided between the rollers and levers. In a modification of Fig. 2 either or both of the piston rod ends are connected to the vehicle body by rods provided at each end with articulated connections. The fluid circuits of a pair of bogies associated with a single rail vehicle may be connected together, and an additional large reservoir connected in the circuit allow the pistons to be re-centralized if they are detected by indicators in a drivers cab to have moved too far to one one end of their cylinders.
