Abstract

1306181 Polyurethane coating composition ENAMEL VARNISH & CHEMICAL CO OF AUSTRALIA PTY Ltd 2 June 1971 [29 June 1969] 18574/71 Heading C3R [Also in Division B2] A primer for the protection of underwater metal surfaces comprises a moisture curing polyurethane (I) in a phosphoric acid based primer containing a dense pigment and a binder, which may comprise I. I may be prepared by reacting tolylene 2,4-diisocyanate with a propylene oxide adduct of trimethylolpropane (M.W. 400-500). The primer may be prepared by mixing 1-10 parts by volume of (a) moisture curing polyurethane with 1 part by volume of (b) a mixture of 5-10% by wt. of phosphoric acid, 55-75% by wt. of pigment, 25-40% by wt. of binder and 10-20% by wt. of solvent. An undercoat and antifouling top coat may be applied over the primer (see Division B2).
