1306141 Preparation of alkanols; hydration of olefines NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORP 10 Feb 1970 [1 April 1969] 6372/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Alkanols are produced by the hydration of olefins over a catalyst comprising a solid silica gel having a pore volume of 1-2À2 c.c./g. and a surface area of 200-600 m.<SP>2</SP>/g. impregnated with phosphoric acid. Examples describe the preparation of ethanol (and diethyl ether) from ethylene.
